Recovery update! Day #3
I'm still in quite a lot of pain, which is to be expected. I'm sleeping a lot but also able to stay awake for a few hours at a time. I'm trying to go down to dosing half a Norco every 4 hours today instead of whole ones. I DID try taking Motrin for the inflammation, but after decades of living off the stuff it feels pointless. I'm going back on Meloxicam today instead (different type of NSAID that I've been on for 5-6 weeks) to see if that helps as much as it did pre-surgery. My post-op nurse said the medication balance is an art form, and she wasn't kidding. We'll see how it all pans out!
I'm making a point to get up and move around every few hours, whether it's just to stretch a tiny bit or to use the bathroom. I've also got a wedge in our bed that's very versatile and we move it around and to change my position when I'm not moving much. Otherwise, my tailbone starts to hurt VERY badly.
I'm allowed to take my bandages off today but truthfully, I'm kinda scared to! I may wait until later today. But I cannot wait to take my compression socks off. They're starting to itch and compress in all the wrong ways.
I'm in bed and not doing stairs (bless Trish for literally bringing me EVERYTHING). I have all my meds and snacks lined up on a table next to me. My appetite is surprisingly good, even though I can't physically stomach most hard foods yet. I'm eating items like eggs, protein shakes, fruit/veggie packets, yogurt, crackers and Mac n cheese (gf/df of course). It's all staying down and not causing too much of a fuss.
Overall, if I'm not sleeping, I'm watching movies - which you can keep up with in my IG/FB stories and Letterboxd if you want to 🤣 I'm going through comfort movies as well as lots of movies I've never seen before so it's been a good ride so far! 🎥
