a way tO
describE
energy
levels
People with chronic illnesses and/or autoimmune diseases, endometriosis in my case, have adopted a concept called 'spoon theory' to describe their energy levels at any given time.

For instance, I might wake up with 10 spoons. Taking a shower and putting on makeup might cost me all those spoons for my day if I'm in pain or fatigued, which is more common than not.
Sometimes I wake up rested, sometimes I do not. Every single thing I do in a day has an amount of spoons attached to it, and as I use them, I get closer and closer to having an endo flare up or fighting heavy fatigue.

There are many different types of diseases and conditions people are diagnosed with that are included in the 'spoonie' community... Endometriosis, Chrohn's, Celiacs, Multiple Sclerosis, etc. the list goes on...

I've put some helpful links below for more reading on spoon theory. I hope this helps you understand someone in your life a little bit better, or maybe even yourself.
