Trish here with an update on Erin:
Surgery yesterday (5/19) was just over two hours, but Erin was in PACU I (the immediate post-op recovery situation) for 4 hours sleeping off the meds, anesthesia, trauma, etc. She has been able to sleep since we got home last night, waking up to take meds and eat what she can.
They removed well over 20 lesions from all over her abdominal cavity, as well as cauterized the underside of her liver due to one of the excised lesions being quite deep. The ovary and tube removals were successful as well. Her surgeon said that she undoubtedly is one of the most severe cases of endometriosis. He did take photos, but we likely will not see those until the follow up appt.
She’s taking Norco every 4 hours for these first couple days and will eventually start alternating between that *or* Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours. She has a heavy duty ice pack wrapped around her abdomen which has been helping considerably. We’ve got Gas-X ready for when the remaining gas starts to creep up her chest/shoulder, which at this point is what she is dreading the most. But she is comfortable and getting sleep 💜
